Cut your way to success! New Holland has a range of knives designed and manufactured out of C1080 steel. The centre of each cutter is pliable, designed for maximum wear resistance. The serrations in each cutter were coined and proceed perpendicular to the centre to improve a self-sharpening and cleaning action.

New Holland designed three types of knives for all types of environments, each with its own special features.

• Smooth - Suitable for light grasses and special applications, can be resharpened, are available in black or chrome finish.
• Under Serrated - Suitable for general applications, can be resharpened, are aggressive serrations grab and hold the stem of the crop.
• Top Serrated - Self-sharpening, suitable for most hay cutting applications, outlasts conventional knife sections 4 to 1.

The CR series Combines are designed to use an assortment of chains, gears and belts. The chains, gears and belts should be checked regularly and either tensioned or replaced.

Maintenance is about being proactive:

  • Insufficient tension which allows chains and belts to whip during operation, placing shock loads on the chain, belt, sprockets, sheaves, shafts and bearings
  • Power not being transmitted at a consistent speed can lead to slipping
  • Excessive tension places added load on the chains belts, sprockets, sheaves, bearings, shafts and associated parts




When you replace your chains and belts, consider replacing them with rotor drive belts. New Holland heavy-duty rotor drive belts have a new rubber compound that resists cracking and heat build-up for a longer belt.

Threshing is one of the final stages of an excellent harvesting season therefore maximising your threshing efficiency is essential. Majority of the threshing occurs between the rotor and concaves. Concaves have two roles - firstly to hold the crop long enough to thresh and secondly to allow the grain to pass through. Ensure the correct type of concave is installed to obtain maximum grain collection.

If you are experiencing poor threshing, grain damage, or are you not happy with your combine’s performance, ask yourself when was the last time you had your threshing separating parts inspected?

Rasp Bars are used to thresh the grain. Chipped edges only result in more power use and the increased chance of cracked/chipped grain.

Rotor Belts transfer large amounts of power, resulting in belts being worn and stretched.
